Sink or Swim

March 22nd, My Facebook Status read:

On his own, Dougie (aka: anxiety/stage-fright boy) asked to take the swim test!!!

He didn't pass (duh... He apparently did the swim part well!) -
but he asked to do it and TRIED (and was okay with "failing")!!!

May 30th, last day of swimming lessons before summer.  Lucas, Dougie's instructor (and a great piece of eye-candy, I must say) summarized my son in approximately 20 seconds.

(said with an Argentinian accent...)
"Douglas knows HOW to swim."  pause....
"He just does not WANT to swim"

Yup.  That pretty much summarizes it.

And I reminded him that he needed a swim license to ride the water slide.

No dice - he did not bite.

Then I reminded him that the super fun swimming camp in August requires a swimming license...

This is what success looks like!

Congratulations Dougie!  WE believed in you - sometimes I suspect you do not.  You will achieve more success when you believe in yourself enough to try.  Just to make an attempt.  Because you can never succeed if you never actually try...

This license is proof of what can happen when you just try.

GOOD JOB, DOUGIE!!!
