Bingo!

The Anthony's can lose at Bingo. Every. Single. Time...

With one exception: Dougie

Last year, he won a kilo of dried mochi. This year? A bottle of wine!




The other two? They each won a washcloth...

He did not just win ANY bottle of wine. He won a reserved bottle of Beaujolais Nouveaux! And a wine glass!




We had to go and pick it up at the Kamiooooooooka Department store. I may have taken advantage and done a little sake tasting. And wine...

And, we discovered that the Japanese really do have muffin tops too! Here is what they look like:

Keiki Valentine's Day

The Waiohai had a Keiki (children's) Valentine's Day Activity.  The kids participated and made boxes and frames, yarn leis and sun catchers, PB&Js and cupcakes.  They played BINGO.  Ian won the first round.  Stefan and Dougie won the second.  Dougie was the only honorable one (a shock, quite frankly) and turned in his card after he won.  Eric made the other two put theirs down.

Even Stefan, who had been insisting he would not have a good time, enjoyed himself.  Didn't hurt that a boy he had befriended was there.  Oh, and he won the "guess the number of hearts in the jar" contest.  He was within five...  Sheesh!  He got quite a bag of goodies for that!

I had said we needed to get more ice-cream while we were here.  Stefan's favorite shop is Papalani Gelato, just across the street.  He and Dougie got the Mud Pie (my fave! Coffee, Oreos, coconut, fudge).  Ian picked out the Lava Flow (Pineapple, Coconut with Strawberry sauce).  Notice who is looking really impish about his ice-cream (that looks NOTHING like the above description)?!?

Ian did what he does best.  Got.  His.  Way...

The Ever-Sweet-Stefan let Ian keep the Mud Pie and happily ate the Pina Colada Lava Flow.

17 Hour Day

Seventeen - the number of days left until Grammie and Pop get here!

Seventeen - also the number of hours it feels like we have been on the go...  today.

Yesterday afternoon I spent at Seika helping set up for their annual Chibikko Bazaar.  It was like a swarm of bees flew in, and in about two hours transformed the school from educational institute to:

Gone!

I manned the American Bakery.  All the "American" parents are asked to donate baked goods to sell.  I tried my hand at Baklava.  The consensus was, it turned out well!  I laughed at the Japanese moms that were so excited to have Baklava - they hadn't had it since they lived in the States!  I know what I will be making now for every bake sale!

Prizes were given out for bingo - Ian was the 15th to get a bingo.  And he won (drum roll please)...

A brand new tractor-trailer!!!

Dougie was 65th...  And he won (drum roll please)...

A bag of FREEZE DRIED TOFU!!!

Stefan was one of three that never got a bingo...  They gave him a consolation prize.  It was way better than the tofu... A Mister Donut mug (who would NOT want that?!?), a Disney hoodie blanket and a bag!  Isn't there a saying about this...  "Lucky Last"?

I got, as a thank you (drum roll please)...

 A cookie on a stick!  And a mirror - all in one!  But that's not all, folks!

There is also the Sa-WEET tissue box!  Literally!  Ian thinks the pink one is a hamburger...  funny :)
