Boys & Bikes

When the Bicycle Show got too much for the boys, they resorted to finding things to do.  Like chewing on the rubbery trouser bracelets or playing "cars" with the bicycle locks...

When the boys got too much for us, we resorted to finding things for them to do.  Like cuffing them with the rubbery trouser bracelets...

Ian found the stash of stickers at the Keen display, proudly stuck one on himself and began handing the rest out to passer-bys.  Too bad for us child-labor laws prevent him from earning a wage!

Stefan experimented with self-portraits of both himself and with his brother.

He was also fascinated with the BMX track - watching the performers, taking pictures and...

Honing his own skills on the pegs

Dougie even tried his hand, or should I say "feet", at it

The BMX instructors took Ian for a spin around the course

The kids then rode on the kids track, Stefan & Dougie riding road bikes for the first time

Stefan road a Fuji - so apropro in Japan!

Ian road the scoot bike on the obstacle course in the center.  He was cautious at first, hesitant to do the teeter totter after the first time, only to challenge the only other one on the course...

The instructor!

Stefan traded in the road bike for a Louis Garneau mountain bike

And traded that in for the BMX with pegs

And lessons!

Dougie took a spin with the BMX experts

Popped a few wheelies

And motated the instructor around the track

The Michelin Man paid us a visit.  As did the Big Red Chiba dog.

Whereas the large costumed creatures send many kids running in fear, Ian gravitates to them with the persistence of a moth to the porch light.

Whatever hardships the boys had being "drug around" the cycling show, all was forgotten and forgiven  after this...
